1870s bustle

Here it is with the bustle on top of the corset, as it should be. The bustle is lined with net and has a small stuffed pad to keep it poofy like that. I was just going to wear drawers or a petticoat under it (I'm not making a full skirt) because I'm doing a "bordello" look.

I finished the bustle. I used the Laughing Moon Saloon Gal pattern. The bustle was a little involved but not that hard to put together.

Had a great Pennsic!

Blah made his entire outfit, which involved the sewing on of hundreds of tiny beads and buttons, but I cheated and got my doublet at Desert Torch Tailors. However, I did make my Venetian breeches. I like this look. I'm definitely doing it again.

I'll be offline for a while, starting on Sat. I may check in briefly from the cyber cafe there, but don't count on it.

How to find me at Pennsic:

My group, The Sisterhood, aka "The Whores of Bablyon" is in E12, just down the hill from the Horde, neighbors with Clan Blue Feather, Von Draken, and Settmoor Swamp.

You may run into me at one of the parties.

Tuesday, Aug. 9, I'm actually coming back in to town to see Between the Waters play at the Club Cafe, early show at 7:30 pm, with Ennui.

Update: I don't post here very often, but I don't want to completely abandon this blog. This was my first blog and the archive captures an interesting period in my life. I do my primary blogging at http://www.livejournal.com/users/mirvana. I also have other blogs hanging about, which I don't post to as frequently:

And here is my dance journal: http://www.livejournal.com/users/mirvdance/.

Gulf Wars was a blast. I may do that again next year. War Practice was a lot of fun and proved to be a good test of how much stuff I can fit in the cruiser. Pennsic is going to be a blast.

My birthday is coming up. I decided that I'm turning 29 this year. Who cares if I have to subtract to get there?

I'm getting ready to go to Pennsic. I have started to do some sewing but not nearly as much as I want. On the to do list: chemises (undergarments), paned slops or Venetians to go with my Spanish doublet that should be arriving soon from Desert Torch Tailors, a new Entari/Turkish coat, and whatever else I can squeeze in the next 30 days.

Hey, all! Yalla Yalla Hey! is putting on a benefit for Healcrest Urban Community Farm in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh July 16. Performers on board include Zafira Dance Company and Phat Man Dee!

Doors at 6 pm, show at 7 pm. There will be food, a raffle and open dancing after the show. I will also be performing in the show.

Please come on down and support a good cause.
